We can live like Jack and Sally if we want – Blink 182
-ALARIC-
I woke up early this morning feeling refreshed after my evening with Emrys. I couldn’t get her out of my mind last night. All I wanted to do was storm into her room as soon as I heard her door click shut. I wanted to give her a second round, I wanted to console her, but I still feel on shaky ground with her so I am not sure I would have been welcomed. Especially after she spilled her heart out about her dead mate.
Walking into the kitchen, I look around. It doesn’t seem like anyone is up yet. I decide to make some coffee or at least try to. Figured it was the least I could do for these fuckers. I pour water into the back of the machine before putting coffee grounds into the basket thing and watch as the pot begins to fill.
“Is that coffee I smell?” Kia scoffs, “I didn’t know you vamps knew how to make coffee.” He jokes.
I roll my eyes, “Seriously Kia...” I begin when Bass pops in all cheery, interrupting me.
“Hello, Nikias and Alaric. You are looking much better today, Alaric. I wonder why that is.” Bass smirks while tapping his chin. I smirk back while rolling my eyes yet again.
“Gather everyone, and we don’t have much time. I have things to do and people to send off to Trials.” He orders.
Kia leaves to retreive Emrys and Rome. Emrys emerges from her room with a towel wrapped around her head and her fighting leathers on, ready to start the day. Rome comes out freshly showered, pulling on a shirt while grunting something about their magic and running out of hot water. Kia looks back at me and smirks. I immediately know what he did. Fucker, always with his jokes. In this case, I smile back conspiratorially.
Bass waits until everyone arrives in the kitchen before he speaks. Em holds up her hand, stopping him from starting, “Don’t say a word till I get my coffee, please.”
Bass looks at her a little shocked yet intrigued by her audacity to speak to a monarch in such a way. But who the fuck wouldn’t be intrigued by her? I mean, look at her fucking beauty. Even with a towel wrapped around her pretty little head, she is breathtaking. What makes her even more so is she doesn’t even know it. She has four very different men wrapped around her finger, and she has no clue. I wonder if the others realize it yet.
Em pours her coffee before coming over to the sofa and sinking onto the middle cushion. Propping her feet up on the coffee table, she smells it before taking a sip, sighing like it’s heaven to her. She looks over at Bass and nods for him to continue.
He chuckles and begins, “As you know, the five puzzle balls each contained a clue about your next Trial. Shall we reread what they say and then hear your ideas on what they mean? I am sure you will figure it out right away.
